Caring for your flowers

Fresh flowers

Your fresh flowers are a natural product, grown and arranged without chemicals and preservatives. To keep your flowers looking beautiful:

  • Pop them in cool water in a clean vase as soon as you receive them. They might be a little stressed from their journey, but with a rest and a drink they will perk back up.

  • If possible, position your flowers out of direct sunlight and away from windows, radiators and fruit/vegetables.

  • Change the water every couple of days and give the ends a snip to help your flowers take up water efficiently. (Don’t recut narcissus/daffodil stems - their sap can shorten the life of other flowers.)

  • Different flowers have different lifespans, and this is entirely natural. You can continue enjoying your bunch by just removing any flowers that have gone over.

Please be aware that many flowers have natural toxicity and could cause harm if ingested. Keep them well away from children and pets to keep everyone safe.

Dried flowers

Your flowers have been naturally grown and dried. With proper care and gentle treatment they will last many years.

  • Dried flowers are brittle and break easily - make sure you hold them by their stems when moving them, and try not to allow the blooms to brush against other surfaces.

  • Keep them out of direct sunlight, which can cause the natural colours to fade and faster deterioration of the petals.

  • Keep them in room without significant fluctuations in temperature and moisture to ensure they don’t become damp or droopy.

  • Some flowers may change in colour or become slightly droopy over time. This is usually because their location has been too light or too damp. I am happy to replace any stems that no longer within 3 years of purchase - just get in touch if your bunch requires tweaking.

Dried Wreaths

Dried wreaths are designed to be displayed indoors as dried flowers do not like to be exposed to moist air or rain. If you choose to put it on your front door, please note that some flowers may droop and the overall life of the wreath will be much shorter.

If displaying indoors, longevity will vary depending on maintenance and conditions. To enjoy your wreath for years to come, hang it somewhere it won’t be knocked, and out of rooms with extreme temperature and moisture fluctuations like bathrooms and kitchens.

If any small pieces of foliage or dried flowers fall off, they can be gently pushed back into the vine base, holding the stem close to the flower head to avoid breakage. If your wreath becomes damaged just get in touch as I may be able to repair it for you.

The wreath is entirely compostable (aside from the ribbon which is reusable) - when you are finished you can compost it or I can collect it and reuse the base. Pop me an email on annie@floralkind.com if you’d like your wreath collected.

Fresh wreaths

Your fresh wreath is constructed on a locally sourced willow base.

The cold winter air should keep your wreath looking lovely until Christmas - the evergreen foliage will gently dry over time. Longevity will vary depending on maintenance and conditions.

To keep your wreath looking fresh for longer, you can spray the foliage with water to rehydrate it. Try to avoid getting any dried flowers wet while you do this.

The wreath is compostable once you are finished with it, aside from the velvet ribbon and brass bell, which can be reused or gifted. Alternatively I will happily collect your used wreath and reuse the base and decorations - just pop me an email on annie@floralkind.com.

Flower Packaging

Your flowers are wrapped in entirely recyclable packaging as part of our commitment to sustainability.

The paper and tape your flowers are wrapped in can be safely recycled at home.

The jar your flowers arrived in can also be recycled, however if you don’t have a use for it we would love to have it back - reusing is infinitely better than recycling!

Pop Annie an email and we’ll come and collect your jar, or you can leave it out for collection next time you order flowers. Thank you!

If you have any questions about how to care for your flowers, or you have feedback to share, pop me an email on annie@floralkind.com - I’d love to hear from you.
